Summer fun, something's begun...

Kayaking sure can make you hungry. One thing to remember is to refrain from eating members of your kayaking party. It can get pretty lonely out there.

Today was the first day of summer. To celebrate we went kayaking on Horseshoe Lake and then I taught a spin class at the YMCA. Our summer's are so short here in the Pacific Northwest that we really have to take advantage of every day that's above 70 degrees....sunny.

Friday is my next training run and I'm really looking forward to it. I've had some people ask me about my first run yesterday. Yesterday's run was 35 minutes. I walked for 2 minutes and ran for 3 minutes. It was simple to do because I had a running partner. Her name is Siri.

I run with my iPhone that has voice recognition, Siri.
-I start my training app that tracks my distance and time. It also tells me when I'm halfway through my 35 minutes so I can turn around and head back home.
-I talk into my ear bud microphone and have Siri set a timer for 2 minutes. I walk for those 2 minutes.
-After the alarms sounds I tell Siri to set a timer for 3 minutes. I run for those 3 minutes.
- I repeat this through the entire run.

It may seem a little geeky but I don't like to do things half-ass. I'm looking forward to training for this race. I like knowing what I'm doing and this app may be the ticket.

I have a spin class to teach tomorrow night along with a core class. It should be interesting since the core class I'm subbing for never really was a core class. (She didn't know what she was doing.)

Summer days keep drifting away but Oh those summer nights.
